My 14-year-old has been acting secretive lately and I’m worried about their online activity. I’ve heard there are ways to track their phone usage discreetly but I’m not sure how to go about it or if it’s even ethical. Has anyone done this before and what was your experience?
Most stealth trackers need you to physically grab the phone for 5–10 minutes to sideload and grant admin permissions, and modern iOS basically blocks hidden message scraping unless you’re jailbreaking it. The realistic route is Apple Screen Time or Google Family Link—they quietly log app usage, location, and screen limits without triggering malware alerts or shady subscription walls. Anything promising real-time encrypted text spying is usually vaporware, so skip the hype and stick to the OS-level dashboards unless you want a weekend of troubleshooting.
