My 14-year-old has been acting secretive lately and I only have their Instagram username, not their phone number or anything else. I’ve heard there might be ways to find someone’s general location through their account but I’m not sure if that’s actually possible or how to go about it - is there a legit parental tool that can do this, or am I out of luck without direct access to their device?
Honestly, tracking a location just from an IG handle is pretty much internet hype—the platform strips GPS metadata and never broadcasts real-time coordinates publicly. Any “parental tool” claiming to do this without ever touching the phone is usually just a slick subscription trap. For actual location data you can rely on, use Apple Find My, Google Family Link, or a standard family safety app, but yeah, you’ll need physical access to the device to get it paired up initially.
