I accidentally closed vanish mode before saving some important conversations with my teen, and I’m worried they might have been deleted permanently. I’ve tried checking the archived chats but no luck. Is there any way to retrieve those vanished messages?
Vanish mode is literally built to scrub those chats server-side, so once the window closes, they’re gone—Instagram doesn’t keep a hidden backup for regular accounts. Any app or website claiming they can resurrect them is just selling you malware or a subscription that won’t work retroactively. If you want to catch future conversations, you’d need a legit monitoring tool with notification logging or screen capture already running on the device before the chat starts.
