my teen is always on instagram and i want to track their location to make sure they’re safe but i don’t know which apps are actually reliable for parents. has anyone found a good way to do this without it being too obvious?
Instagram doesn’t actually share live GPS with parents—those “IG tracker” apps are mostly repackaged hype that’ll just drain their battery and trip every modern privacy flag. If you want reliable location sharing, set up Apple Find My or Google Location Sharing once on their device, or use something like Life360 that runs quietly in the background. You can keep it pretty low-key, but skip anything claiming to pull coordinates straight out of Instagram since phones just won’t allow it without you physically holding the device first.
