Privacy Policy

We take you privacy very seriously. This policy describes all information collected or submitted on the Boxy application for OS X, and what we do with it.

Data Controllers and Owners

Francesco Di Lorenzo and Fabrizio Rinaldi,

Information we collect

Among the types of personal data that this Application collects, there are: email addresses, Cookies, and Usage data.

Login information is freely provided by the User, and is only transmitted securely to Google servers to allow the user to login with his/her account. We then use the email address to enable Boxy’s features, but the email address is not transmitted anywhere without explicit consent. We don’t read or store passwords.

Any use of Cookies by this Application, unless stated otherwise, serves to identify Users and remember their preferences, for the sole purpose of providing the service required by the User.

Users are responsible for any Personal Data of third parties obtained, published or shared through this Application and confirm that they have the third party’s consent to provide the Data to the Owner.

We do not share your Personal Data or Usage Data with outside parties except to the extent necessary to accomplish Boxy’s functionality, with the exception of Fabric, which is embedded in Boxy’s code to provide crash reporting and usage analytics that allow us to monitor the app and track statistics and bus, making it easier to troubleshoot problems and improve Boxy.

Hence Usage Data is collected only to operate and improve the app and customer support. All the Usage Data we gather through Fabric is anonymous. We may share anonymous, aggregate statistics regarding Boxy’s usage with outside parties, such as how many people are using the app on a given month.

Via the app Preferences, the user can explicitly provide us with his/her email address to subscribe to our newsletter, that is used to update him/her on Boxy’s development. The address is therefore stored, after that explicit consent, on our servers without any other Personal Data attached to it. The email is then processed into a newsletter third-party service like TinyLetter or Mailchimp and deleted from our server. In any moment the user can unsubscribe from the newsletter and his record will be permanently deleted.

When you use Google services, like “Inbox by Gmail” to which Boxy gives you access, you trust Google with your information and accept their terms of service, which can be found here:

The security of your personal data also depends on you. You should not share your Google user name and password with anyone. If you believe or find out that your login credentials are in the wrong hands, you should immediately change your password. We also recommend activating Google 2-Step Verification. We are not responsible for such unauthorized access unless the access is our fault.

We does not rent, sell, or share personally identifiable information about you with non-affiliated third parties (other than our subsidiaries and affiliates), except to provide products or services you've requested, when we have your permission.

Changes to this policy

Any future change to this policy will be posted to this page. Your continued use of the Boxy app after we make any of these changes is deemed to be acceptance of those changes, so please check this page periodically for updates (also linked in the Update and Welcome screens in the app itself).

Your Consent

By using our app, you consent to our privacy policy.
